About COMMUNITY ARTISTS COLLECTIVE

Community Artists Collective (The Collective) is a Houston-based 501(c)(3) arts organization that provides arts education, exhibitions, community development and entrepreneurship programs with a focus on supporting African American artists and increasing arts access in underserved neighborhoods. Its program mix includes after-school and weekend classes, artist residencies, exhibitions, The Witness Series, the Jubilee Quilt Circle and community arts initiatives designed for both children and adults. Founded in the mid-1980s and chartered in the late 1980s, The Collective maintains a physical gallery and program space near Houston’s Museum and Theater districts and operates a gift shop and regular public events. The organization lists ongoing partnerships and support from public and private funders (including state and national arts agencies) and continues to present public programming and workshops into 2026.
