About MISSION BEND GREENBELT ASSOCIATION

Mission Bend Greenbelt Association (MBGA) is a Texas 501(c)(3) nonprofit that plans, constructs and maintains parks, hike-and-bike trails, and related open-space amenities serving the Mission Bend area and five affiliated municipal utility districts.

The association works in partnership with local MUDs and county agencies to build and maintain neighborhood greenways and berm/ditch maintenance that support recreation, stormwater drainage, and neighborhood connectivity. In recent years (2022–2024) MBGA has been active in trail improvement efforts and regional trail project support, including participation in letters of support and coordination with transportation and regional planning agencies.

MBGA reports regular Form 990 filings and maintained operating funding and reserves through recent fiscal years; the organization continues to act as a local, donor-facing steward of the Mission Bend trail network and adjacent parkland.

Notable achievements

Local trail network built

MBGA has planned and helped construct an interconnected trail system in the Mission Bend area; filings and municipal statements note approximately 11 miles of walking/trail connections developed to link parks and neighborhoods (reported as of 2024).

Sustained partnerships with area MUDs

The association formally serves and coordinates maintenance and recreational facility projects for five municipal utility districts (including Harris County MUD No. 120 and Mission Bend MUDs), enabling joint construction and upkeep of parks, berms, and drainage-adjacent green space.

Ongoing recent project support

MBGA engaged in regional project advocacy and grant/transportation support in the 2020s (including documented letters of support for the FM 1093 trail application in 2022) and remains an active stakeholder in trail improvement planning and meetings through 2023–2024.
