About AL-NOOR SOCIETY OF GREATER HOUSTON
Al-Noor Society of Greater Houston was established in 1987 to serve the religious, educational, and community needs of the Ahle-Sunnah wal-Jama'at Muslim community in the Houston area. The Society operates a central mosque and community facility that hosts worship services, year‑round programs, religious education, and community events. The Society's main facility, located at 6443 Prestwood Drive in Houston, accommodates roughly 1,100 people and includes separate prayer halls, classrooms, a dining area, a kitchen, outdoor courts and a library; its Friday congregation is one of the largest in the state. Al-Noor also founded the Al-Noor Institute of Islamic Sciences (AIIS) in 2012 to offer full- and part-time Alim programs and has graduated local scholars through that program. Al-Noor is recognized as a tax-exempt religious organization and maintains an active community role in Greater Houston. Recent public financial records (most recently reported through 2022) show ongoing operating activity and a multi-million-dollar asset base that supports the center's programs and facilities, and the Society has participated in local humanitarian and community collaborations in the past several years.
