About EAST MONTGOMERY COUNTY FAIR ASSOCIATION

The East Montgomery County Fair Association (EMCFA) is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) organization that organizes the annual East Montgomery County Fair & Rodeo at Bull Sallas Park to support local youth involvement in agricultural programs. The fair provides junior livestock shows, rodeo events, contests (including Fair Queen & King), and community events that foster skills in leadership, responsibility, and agricultural production.

EMCFA funds a scholarship program for graduating seniors active in 4‑H or FFA from New Caney, Porter, and Splendora High Schools and partners closely with local FFA and 4‑H chapters and school agricultural programs. The association operates regular annual events (the organization traces its roots to 1985) and uses proceeds from auctions, sale-of-champions events and other fundraising activities to finance scholarships and youth programming. Recent activity includes continuing annual fairs and updated event handbooks and scholarship cycles in the 2023–2025 period.

Notable achievements

Longstanding annual fair & rodeo

Established in 1985, EMCFA has held annual fair and rodeo events for decades, continuing community traditions and providing sustained youth programming through its livestock shows and competitions.

Annual scholarship program

EMCFA operates a scholarship program that awards a minimum of three scholarships each year (one each to qualifying seniors from New Caney, Porter, and Splendora High Schools) to students active in FFA or 4‑H, with clear criteria and payment directly to recipient institutions.

Robust event fundraising to support youth programs

The association’s auction and sale-of-champions activities and other fair fundraising are the primary revenue sources used to fund scholarships, youth events, and fair operations, as reflected in recent organizational filings and event reports.
