Project Row Houses
Project Row Houses empowers people and enriches communities through engagement, art, and direct action.
About Project Row Houses
Project Row Houses (PRH) is a Houston-based, community-rooted arts and neighborhood development nonprofit founded in 1993. PRH activates art, cultural preservation, affordable housing, and small-business incubation on a campus spanning five city blocks in the Historic Third Ward.
PRH operates artist commission cycles (“Artist Rounds”), residency and mentorship programs (including the Floyd Newsum Summer Studios), a Young Mothers Residential Program, and a Business Residency that incubates local entrepreneurs. The organization combines site-specific exhibitions with direct community services to support Third Ward residents, artists, and culturally specific small businesses.
In recent years PRH has continued regular Artist Rounds (including rounds in 2024–2026), expanded its business incubation cohorts (notable cohorts in 2025), marked its 30th anniversary in 2024, and manages the Third Ward Cultural District while maintaining a campus of roughly 39 structures used for exhibitions, housing, and community programming.
