About Houston Center for Contemporary Craft

Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC), founded in 2001 and based in Houston’s Museum District, is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to advancing education about the process, product, and history of contemporary craft. The Center presents rotating exhibitions, an artist residency program, hands-on public programs, and a retail program that supports working makers. HCCC operates free-admission galleries and programming designed for broad public engagement, including family-friendly monthly making events, studio visits with resident artists, classes and workshops, and community outreach. The Center serves as both an exhibition venue for regional and national makers and a resource for working artists through studio support and professional development. In recent years HCCC has continued its long-running juried exhibition series (CraftTexas), sustained its multi-decade residency program (celebrated in a year-round In Residence exhibition), and advanced organizational planning and facility improvements to strengthen long-term operations and public access.
