About EDUCATION BASED HOUSING INC

EIN 76-0629574 corresponds to Education Based Housing, Inc. (EBH), a Texas 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Houston that has operated since 1999 to integrate education, supportive services, and affordable housing for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed (ALICE) households and other low-income families. EBH develops, manages, and provides resident services at affordable housing communities across Greater Houston and elsewhere in Texas, delivering on-site education, High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation, job-skills training, digital literacy, parenting and health workshops, and resident-centered programming. In recent years EBH has continued active development and service work (including city-sponsored acquisitions and development contracts) and reports multi-thousand annual residents served through its portfolio and community programs.

Notable achievements

Expanded affordable housing portfolio

Since 1999 EBH has planned, developed or operated numerous affordable housing communities in Greater Houston and Texas (examples in its portfolio include Timber Ridge, Windsor Gardens, The Brittmoore, Meadows at Cypress Creek and others), building a multi-site platform for resident services and supportive programming.

Educational outcomes and HSE success

EBH’s resident education programs have produced measurable education outcomes — the organization reports more than 100 High School Equivalency graduates and multiple participants accepted to college or vocational programs after completing EBH classes and supports.

Secured public partnerships and project funding

EBH has been an active partner with municipal and state housing entities and philanthropic partners in recent years, participating in City of Houston-supported acquisitions and housing development contracts to preserve and expand affordable units for ALICE families.
