HAWAII APPLESEED CENTER FOR LAW AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE

Hawaiʻi Appleseed Center for Law and Economic Justice is a Honolulu-based nonprofit policy and research organization that works to advance economic justice across Hawaiʻi. The organization focuses on policy areas including affordable housing, food security, wages and labor, transportation equity, and state tax and budget issues. Hawaiʻi Appleseed combines community engagement with data analysis and public education to inform policymakers and the public, producing tools and reports (such as an interactive state budget tracker, annual legislative 'Policy in Perspective' reports, and issue-specific research) used by advocates, media, and lawmakers. The organization centers racial, indigenous, gender, and economic equity in its advocacy and explicitly aims to improve outcomes for low-income families and communities historically marginalized in policy-making.
