QUEER WOMEN OF COLOR MEDIA ARTS PROJECT-QWOCMAP

Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project (QWOCMAP) is a San Francisco–based nonprofit that trains, funds, and exhibits films by and about queer women of color and gender-diverse people of color. The organization operates an intensive Filmmaker Training Program, a distribution program, and the International Queer Women of Color Film Festival to amplify marginalized voices through narrative and documentary film.

QWOCMAP centers cultural leadership and movement-building: it combines artistic mentorship, community partnerships, and targeted distribution to support filmmakers from historically excluded communities, and has published a strategic framework (2025) to expand capacity, workforce pathways, and hybrid festival models. In recent years QWOCMAP has continued to grow festival programming, secure public arts funding, and deepen community-based partnerships that provide trauma-informed supports for participants.
