About COLORADO UNWANTED HORSE ALLIANCE
Colorado Unwanted Horse Alliance (CUHA) is a Colorado-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit established to prevent abandonment, neglect, and slaughter of domestic equines by providing targeted, short-term financial assistance and by supporting rescue and rehoming networks across the state.
CUHA operates primarily as a grantmaker and resource convener: it funds emergency veterinary care, gelding/low‑cost clinics, hay and boarding assistance, humane euthanasia when appropriate, and maintains/endorses an adoption resource database (Equidopt) to connect available horses with qualified adopters.
In recent years CUHA has continued grantmaking activity (reported revenue and assets on federal filings in 2023) and was selected as a statewide recipient of Colorado’s Equine Welfare Assistance grant program, reflecting ongoing collaboration with rescues, veterinary providers, and state partners.
