About SAN FRANCISCO TRAVEL FOUNDATION
The San Francisco Travel Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit affiliate of the San Francisco Travel Association, founded in May 2003 to support hospitality education and workforce development in the region. The Foundation’s core activities are scholarship awards for students in Bay Area hospitality programs and industry-related education and outreach designed to strengthen the local visitor economy. In recent years the Foundation has continued to award named scholarships (including the John A. Marks Scholarship and the Dale Hess Excellence in Hospitality Scholarship introduced in 2022) and announced the Joe D’Alessandro scholarship to be awarded in 2025. The organization operates with a modest budget focused on program services (program services constitute the majority of reported revenue) and reported net assets in the low six figures in its most recent annual filing.
