CITIZEN FILM INC

Citizen Film is a San Francisco–based nonprofit documentary production organization founded in 2002 by Sam Ball, Sophie Constantinou, and Kate Stilley Steiner. It produces feature and short documentary films and multiplatform media projects in collaboration with cultural institutions and community organizations. The organization’s work is built around civic engagement and community-driven storytelling: its projects have been shown by major broadcasters and institutions and are used as tools for public programs, education, and local placemaking. In recent years Citizen Film has produced and co-produced projects that have screened at film festivals, been used in public engagement campaigns, and continued to support community-centered initiatives (including stewardship of the Debra Chasnoff / Groundspark legacy and related outreach work). Citizen Film operates as a donor-facing 501(c)(3) nonprofit with an active web presence, an ongoing slate of production and community-engagement projects, and regular annual Form 990 filings confirming continued operations and program activity.
