About BAY AREA AFFORDABLE HOMEOWNERSHIP ALLIANCE
The Bay Area Affordable Homeownership Alliance (BAAHA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in San Francisco that serves as the successor organization to the Bay Area HomeBuyer Agency. It operates as a regional clearinghouse offering education, HUD-certified counseling, program administration, and support services that preserve and expand Below Market Rate (BMR) and other affordable homeownership opportunities. BAAHA provides down-payment assistance program administration, BMR application and lottery management, and workshops and seminars for first-time and income-qualified buyers. It partners with municipalities and local housing agencies across the Bay Area to implement and manage city-sponsored homeownership programs and BMR sales. In the last 2–3 years BAAHA has been active administering municipal homeownership programs (including an Antioch down-payment assistance program), publishing current BMR listings and workshops on its site, and maintaining annual IRS filings through fiscal year 2024, demonstrating ongoing program operations and municipal contracting activity.
