About CHITRESH DAS INSTITUTE

Chitresh Das Institute is a San Francisco–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded to preserve and carry forward the legacy and pedagogy of Pandit Chitresh Das through training, performance, and community engagement. The organization operates a school offering classes and teacher training, a pre-professional Youth Company, a professional company, a Kathak Fellowship, and project-based initiatives such as Art for the Planet. EIN 81-2013046 has been confirmed against the organization’s public filings and nonprofit registries. In the past 2–3 years CDI has remained actively producing new work and artist-development programs (notably premiering a new evening-length work in November 2025) while expanding structured fellowships and formalizing a Kathak teaching fellowship launched in 2025.
