About COMPOSERS NOW INC

Composers Now, Inc. (EIN 81-2244711) is a New York–based 501(c)(3) presenter and advocacy organization that champions living composers through commissions, premieres, residencies, and public programs. Founded and led by Tania León, the organization programs festivals, Composer Curator dialogues, youth commissioning initiatives, and interdisciplinary collaborations across concert halls, museums, and experimental venues.

In the last 2–3 years Composers Now has increased national reach (including a 2025 festival expansion to multiple U.S. cities), continued its First Commission and youth-focused commissioning work, maintained residency partnerships (including a Pocantico Center/Asian Cultural Council residency), and announced 2026 Visionary Award recipients and new commissioned works.

National festival expansion (2025)

Expanded the Composers Now Festival beyond New York in 2025 to multiple U.S. cities, increasing performance opportunities and premieres for living composers and broadening audience reach.

First Commission & commissioning program

Operates a First Commission program and regular composer commissions that select emerging and mid-career composers for financial support and world-premiere performances at the festival and partner venues; recent commissions include a 2026 First Commission premiere.

Residency partnerships and interdisciplinary collaborations

Secured residencies and program partnerships (including a Pocantico Center residency supported through a partnership involving the Asian Cultural Council and funder support) that foster composer–artist collaborations, film/music residencies, and public-facing projects.
