About Northern Colorado Wildlife Center
Northern Colorado Wildlife Center (NCWC) is a licensed 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Fort Collins, Colorado, founded in 2016 to rescue, rehabilitate, and release sick, injured, and orphaned native wildlife while educating the public about coexistence and habitat protection.
Since leasing a dedicated rehabilitation and education facility in September 2022, NCWC expanded species care (including the return of small mammal rehabilitation in Larimer County), scaled patient intake, and increased on-site environmental education offerings.
In recent years the organization has operated year-round rescue and intake services across northern Colorado (including Larimer and Weld counties), admitting thousands of patients annually while delivering outreach and classroom programs to local schools, first responders, and the public.
Notable achievements
Opened dedicated rehab and education facility (Sept 2022)
Leased and established a publicly accessible rehabilitation and education center in east Fort Collins, enabling expanded species care and on-site classroom programming.
High patient intake and expanded impact (2024)
Substantially increased capacity and caseload, admitting over two thousand wildlife patients in 2024 and scaling education and outreach reach concurrently.
Local community recognition (2025)
Earned notable community awards and increased public recognition for wildlife care and outreach during 2025 community vote events.
