About Treetops Collective

Treetops Collective is a Grand Rapids, Michigan–based nonprofit that supports refugee and immigrant (New American) women and teen girls through leadership development, community-building programs, and a cross-cultural community center. The organization operates holistic, relational programs that center New American leadership and aim to increase access to services, cultural belonging, and civic participation across West Michigan. In recent years Treetops has advanced a major community space renovation (known as The 906) and expanded programmatic partnerships and grant-funded work focused on refugee mental health and leadership development. The organization continues to host cultural events, trainings, and youth and family services designed to strengthen newcomer integration and cross-cultural connection.

Notable achievements

The 906 cross-cultural community center renovation

Completed a major fundraising and renovation milestone to transform the organization’s facility into a dedicated cross-cultural community center (The 906), creating a public gathering space and program hub for New American communities in Grand Rapids.

Awarded refugee mental health program funding (FY23–24)

Secured grant funding and partnership support in the 2023–2024 funding cycle to expand refugee mental health and wellbeing initiatives, enabling deeper services and culturally responsive supports for newcomer families.

Expanded community-facing programs and partnerships

Scaled leadership and community programs for refugee and immigrant women and teen girls, increasing Treetops’ role as a cross-cultural convener and partner for local social service, civic, and arts organizations.
