About ACCESS BOOKS BAY AREA

Access Books Bay Area is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit that partners with public elementary schools in under-resourced Bay Area districts to provide new, diverse books and to refurbish school libraries into welcoming spaces that encourage reading. The organization sources and curates high-interest, culturally relevant picture books and chapter books, processes collections for circulation, and leads on-site library refresh projects that include murals, furniture, and volunteer-driven book processing.

Since launching its Bay Area program in 2016, Access Books Bay Area has worked with schools, community volunteers, local bookstores, and corporate sponsors to deliver measurable literacy impact. The organization runs grant programs, book drives, direct distribution and Little Free Library partnerships, and continues to schedule volunteer-driven library refurbishments and book-processing events for local elementary schools (ongoing activity documented in the last 2–3 years).
