About COLORADO 4X4 RESCUE & RECOVERY
Colorado 4x4 Rescue & Recovery is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization that specializes in backcountry vehicle recoveries, person extractions, and emergency support on 4x4 trails and forest service roads across Colorado. The group coordinates with sheriffs, search-and-rescue teams, the U.S. Forest Service, BLM and other agencies and does not charge for deployment.
Since formation (operational since mid-2010s) the organization has completed hundreds of recoveries and accumulated thousands of volunteer hours. In the last 2–3 years the group has continued regular mission responses (winter and summer recoveries), hosted member recruitment and training sessions (including a mid-2025 informational session cycle), and was recognized by partner agencies for its assistance during county search-and-rescue operations.

Completed hundreds of vehicle recoveries and numerous search-and-rescue support missions, accumulating thousands of volunteer hours statewide.
El Paso County SAR recognition (2024)
Acknowledged by a county SAR organization for ongoing partnership and vehicle-recovery support during county incidents in the 2024 reporting year.

Formal and informal partnerships with agencies and stewardship groups (e.g., USFS, Stay the Trail Colorado, Tread Lightly, Colorado SAR organizations) to coordinate operations and training.
