ICONOCLAST ARTISTS

Founded in 2014 by Marlon Lizama and Matthew Russell, Iconoclast Artists is a Houston-based 501(c)(3) arts education nonprofit that runs in-school, after-school, and juvenile-justice-site programs to support students from resource-depleted schools. The organization uses creative writing, performance, and visual arts combined with mindfulness and social-emotional-learning practices to build communication, self-regulation, and critical-thinking skills. In recent years Iconoclast Artists has published annual student anthologies (English and Spanish editions), expanded programming across Houston and Galveston school districts and juvenile facilities, and presented student work at community venues and institutions. The organization maintains active partnerships with local schools and arts partners and continues to report annual impact and financial activity in public annual reports and filings.
