About The Healing Hearts Project

The Healing Hearts Project is a Jacksonville, Florida-based 501(c)(3) that supports patients and families affected by congenital heart defects (CHD), partnering directly with Wolfson Children’s Hospital and UF Pediatric Cardiology–Jacksonville. The organization is run by parents, caregivers, nurses, and doctors in the pediatric heart community and focuses on practical, emotional, and educational support from diagnosis through recovery and beyond. Programs include hospital support (surgery-day meals, care packs, nurse education support), private family support groups, community education on CHD, and annual fundraising events that sustain services. In recent years the charity has expanded event-based fundraising (the annual Jax Healing Hearts Race & Walk and other community drives) and reported increased donations and net assets on its most recent Form 990 filings, enabling larger program capacity and continued local partnerships.
