About HOUSTON ANIMAL RESCUE TEAM
Houston Animal Rescue Team (HART) is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) animal rescue based in northwest Harris County (Hockley), Texas that operates a kennel-based facility and a foster network to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome at-risk dogs and cats. HART provides full veterinary care (vaccinations, testing, dentals, spay/neuter when appropriate, and microchipping), participates in interstate transport partnerships to place animals with humane societies in northern states, and conducts community outreach, adoption events, and education to promote responsible pet ownership. Recent public filings and active member listings show continued operations through fiscal 2024 and ongoing adoption listings in 2025–2026.
Notable achievements
Kennel-based rescue facility established
Developed a kennel-based system on a North Houston property to house, socialize and medically treat rescued animals; the property routinely averages 100+ animals on-site and supports onsite adoptions.
Large-scale interstate placements
Coordinates interstate rescue transports and partnerships with northern humane societies; has enabled the placement and rehoming of thousands of animals through these transport programs.
Comprehensive medical & adoption protocol
Maintains standard-of-care veterinary practices for rescues — vaccinations, heartworm testing/treatment, dentals, microchipping and spay/neuter — before animals are adopted or placed with partners.
