About MONTBELLO ORGANIZING COMMITTEE

Montbello Organizing Committee (EIN 81-4339690) is a community development corporation and 501(c)(3) based in the Montbello neighborhood of Denver. Founded from resident organizing in 2013, MOC works with local residents and partners to advance food access, affordable housing, youth programs, mental health services, economic opportunity, and civic leadership.

In recent years MOC has advanced a mixed-use development called the FreshLo Hub (including affordable apartments and community space), run food-access programs (Fresh Food Market and mobile pantry), and partnered with public and philanthropic funders to deliver youth nutrition education, mental health services, and neighborhood mobility projects such as the Montbello Loop and electric passenger van initiatives.

Notable achievements

Secured HUD/City funding for FreshLo Hub

MOC became the nonprofit sponsor for the FreshLo Hub mixed-use development and was awarded City-subrecipient funding tied to a HUD Economic Development Initiative community project to support affordable apartment construction and community-serving space.

Awarded Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids grant

MOC was selected to deliver youth- and family-focused food education and food-box distribution under Denver’s Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids initiative through a multi-year city grant to expand nutrition education and access among low-income Montbello youth and families.

Launched neighborhood food and community services

MOC established the Fresh Food Market and mobile pantry operations, developed partnerships to deliver school- and family-based food education, and expanded community services including mental health partnerships and arts/education programming.
