About Hawaii Investment Ready

Hawaii Investment Ready (HIR) is a Hawaii-based 501(c)(3) impact investing intermediary that builds capacity for social enterprises (both nonprofit and for-profit) and helps connect them to aligned capital. The organization runs cohort-based accelerator programs, investor education events, and produces research to strengthen Hawaiʻi’s impact-capital ecosystem. In recent years HIR has expanded program work across food systems, community resilience, and place-based enterprises — publishing a Hawaiʻi Capital Scan (2023) and a 10-year “Catalyzing Impact” report (2024) while running cohort accelerators and convenings to move capital toward island-scale social and environmental solutions. HIR maintains active philanthropic partnerships and regularly files public Form 990 returns and impact reports.

Notable achievements

Hawaiʻi Food Systems Accelerator

Designed and launched a dedicated accelerator for food-systems enterprises (announced 2022) to strengthen supply chains, scale local food businesses, and broaden access to technical assistance and investment capital in rural and island communities.

Decade milestone — Catalyzing Impact (2014–2024)

Published a 10-year impact report and celebrated program milestones showing HIR-supported cohorts have included dozens of enterprises, supported the creation/retention of over a thousand jobs, and helped enterprises collectively reach significant annual revenues and investor readiness.

Research and investor ecosystem building

Produced the Hawaiʻi Capital Scan (2023) and hosted Leveraging Hawaiʻi Capital workshops and investor education events that increased coordination between philanthropy, local investors, and mission-aligned enterprises.
