About MEDICAL AFFAIRS PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY

MAPS (Medical Affairs Professional Society) is a nonprofit, member-driven professional society dedicated exclusively to the Medical Affairs function within biopharmaceutical, medtech, and related health industries. The organization provides education, standards, benchmarking, and a global community that connects scientific innovation with patients.

MAPS operates a Knowledge Center, competency framework, eLearning and MasterClass programs, and global flagship meetings (Americas, EMEA) to advance professional practice. In recent years MAPS has published industry benchmarking reports (including the 2026 Annual Benchmark Report), expanded virtual and in-person learning, and reported FY2024 program revenues in the multi‑million dollar range to support its member services.

Grew into the world’s largest society focused on Medical Affairs with an international membership community reported at more than 18,000 members representing hundreds of companies.

Annual benchmarking leadership

Published the MAPS Annual Benchmark Report (2026 edition among others), providing quantitative benchmarking and strategic insights drawn from leading Pharma and MedTech organizations to inform operating models and priorities across the industry.

Established competency and training programs

Developed a multi‑domain Competency Framework and expanded professional development offerings — including eLearning, MasterClass, and onsite training — to standardize skills, accelerate capability building, and support career pathways in Medical Affairs.
