About SOUNDING JOY MUSIC THERAPY INC
Sounding Joy Music Therapy, Inc. is a Honolulu-based 501(c)(3) established in 2002 that provides board-certified music therapy services, education, outreach, internships, and research collaborations across Oʻahu and the neighbor islands. The organization prioritizes people with disabilities, older adults, and medically vulnerable populations and delivers individual and group clinical services, adaptive music lessons, seminars, and community programming. In the last 2–3 years Sounding Joy has maintained active community programming (including recurring "Live Music for Kids" library programs through 2024–2025), participated in the Hawaii Parkinson Association symposium (2023), and received public arts support through the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (FY2024 Community Arts Grant). The organization has also pursued state grants and continued partnerships with local health and advocacy groups to expand services island-wide. Sounding Joy reports multi-decade impact in Hawaiʻi: it describes having served thousands of clients directly and provided widespread public education on music therapy, while partnering with universities, hospitals, elder-care sites, schools, and statewide agencies to deliver clinical services and student internships.

Presented at World Congress of Music Therapy
Represented Hawaiʻi at the World Congress of Music Therapy with original presentations in 2011 (Seoul) and 2014 (Vienna), bringing local practice to international professional forums.
Established Hawaiʻi's first music therapy course partnership
Collaborated with Hawaiʻi Pacific University in 2014 to establish the first music therapy introductory course in the state, supporting local workforce and student training.
