About DISASTER SERVICES CORPORATION - SOCIETY OF ST VINCENT DE PAUL USA

Disaster Services Corporation (DSC) is the disaster-response and long-term recovery nonprofit affiliated with the National Council of the United States Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP). Headquartered in Irving, Texas, DSC formed as an independent 501(c)(3) in 2017 while maintaining close operational alignment with SVDP councils nationwide.

DSC runs programs across the disaster timeline including Parish Recovery Assistance Centers (P-RACs), disaster case management, a national House in a Box™ household furnishing program, and long-term recovery initiatives. In the last 2–3 years the organization has expanded partnerships and program capacity (notably work with National VOAD, procurement partners and technology partners) to scale deliveries and data-driven case management for disaster survivors and low-income households.

Notable achievements

Independent 501(c)(3) formation

Evolved from an SVDP program into an independent nonprofit in 2017 to focus resources and compliance on national disaster recovery work while maintaining coordination with local Vincentian networks.

House in a Box™ national scale-up

Operates a nationally recognized House in a Box™ program that furnishes newly rebuilt homes with full household kits; recent procurement and logistics partnerships materially increased program capacity, enabling hundreds more families (including a reported +330-family capacity increase from procurement improvements) to receive complete home furnishings.

National partnerships and program launches

Expanded strategic collaborations with National VOAD and private-sector partners and in 2024–2025 launched initiatives such as the American Response and Resiliency Program and fintech/technology pilots to streamline recovery and last-mile delivery.
