About POETIC

POETIC is a Dallas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 82-2526057) that provides comprehensive, in-community aftercare for girls (typically ages 12–18) who have experienced child maltreatment, commercial sexual exploitation, or domestic minor sex trafficking. The organization combines an on-site school, trauma-informed therapy (including creative arts therapy), mentorship, paid internships and social enterprise opportunities to address both the individual and systemic drivers of vulnerability.

Founded in 2017 by Dr. HaeSung Han and Jennifer Tinker, POETIC focuses on youth referred through the juvenile justice and child protective systems and reports strong program outcomes: the organization reports a high probation completion rate (99%) and a low juvenile-justice recidivism rate (95% of girls do not return to the juvenile justice system). In recent years POETIC has published peer-reviewed research (2023), continued program expansion and maintained charitable operations reflected in its most recent fiscal-year filings (2024 revenue and expense activity).
