About THE ASPEN EFFECT, INC.
The Aspen Effect operates ranch-centered programs that pair caring adult mentors, gentle farm animals (mini-horses, goats, etc.), and outdoor experiences to build connection, self-regulation, leadership and long-term resilience for middle and high school youth.
Based in the Douglas County/Castle Rock–Sedalia area (Happy Dog Ranch horse sanctuary and related ranch sites), the organization runs regular mentoring cohorts, short summer resilience camps, a teen advisory board, and a youth service/leadership crew. In recent years (2023–2024) the charity expanded programming, secured new grants, reported substantive revenue growth and increased volunteer engagement while opening a dedicated youth clubhouse space in late 2024.
