About WAYOUT LGBTQ FOUNDATION
WAYOUT LGBTQ Foundation (doing business as wayOUT) is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) that finds, vets and fundraises for local LGBTQ+ youth centers and programs across the United States. The organization operates multiple local chapters (including Bay Area, New York City, Los Angeles and Seattle) and serves as a conduit between donors and community-based youth centers, leaving final grant decisions and use of funds to recipient organizations.
In recent years wayOUT has scaled its grantmaking and fundraising: since its founding it reports having raised more than $750,000 for LGBTQ+ youth centers, worked with 22+ grant recipients across more than a dozen states, and ran chapter-driven campaigns and events that directed six- and five-figure sums to individual local centers in 2022–2024. The organization focuses grant support on frontline needs such as shelter and homelessness services, mental health and suicide-prevention, transgender youth support, school-based resources, and LGBTQ+-competent health care.
