The Invisible Disabilities® Association (IDA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that encourages, educates and connects people and organizations touched by illness, pain and disability so individuals living with invisible conditions are understood, believed and supported.

About INVISIBLE DISABILITIES ASSOCIATION

IDA builds awareness and delivers education, advocacy and peer connection for people whose illnesses, pain or disabilities are not readily visible. The organization provides public campaigns, educational programs, an online support community, multimedia content and signature awareness events to reduce stigma and improve access to accommodations.

IDA leads the National Disability ID initiative to promote voluntary disclosure options for people with invisible disabilities, runs campaigns such as Invisible Disabilities® Week and Cleaner Indoor Air, and produces the annual 'An Evening with Invisible Disabilities' awards program and related learning events and media.

Annual Awards Gala (An Evening with Invisible Disabilities)

IDA’s signature awards gala, presented annually, spotlights people and organizations advancing awareness, innovation and support for invisible disabilities. Recent editions have been presented as widely accessible livestreamed programs honoring advocates, clinicians, innovators and community leaders while serving as IDA’s primary fundraising and awareness platform.

National Disability ID advancement

IDOngoing leadership of the National Disability ID initiative to create voluntary disability-designator options on state IDs and driver’s licenses and to improve first-responder and law-enforcement interactions; the campaign has secured state-level adoption steps and sustained advocacy to expand voluntary disclosure tools.

Sustained online support & content

More than two decades of continuous online peer-support programming (IDA community on Inspire), regular podcasts, video series and practical publications that connect and educate thousands of people living with invisible conditions.
