About ALAN HU FOUNDATION

The Alan Hu Foundation is a Pleasanton, California-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in memory of Alan Hu to advance mental health education, reduce stigma, and support research into psychiatric disorders. The foundation runs a free public Mental Health Lecture Series featuring experts from leading universities, hospitals and research centers, provides scholarships for local students pursuing mental-health-related careers, and partners with local funders for program support. In recent years the organization has expanded community grants and programming (including 2024–2025 City of Pleasanton Youth Grant support) and was recognized as a 2025 California Nonprofit of the Year for Assembly District 16.

Scholarship Awards

Awarded Alan Hu Foundation scholarships (up to $1,000 each) to local high school seniors; the foundation reports 57 scholarship recipients to date who plan to pursue careers or studies in mental-health-related fields and first-responder roles.

Free Mental Health Lecture Series

Operates an ongoing Mental Health Lecture Series of webinars featuring clinicians and researchers; the series is provided free to the public and includes simultaneous Chinese interpretation to reach multilingual communities.
