About Books to Kids, Inc.
Books to Kids is a Denver-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit (founded 2018) that brings authors and illustrators into Title I schools and community settings across the Denver metro area and provides free, new books to participating children.
The organization pairs creator visits with book distributions (committing to at least 100 copies per Author Visit), produces the Children's Festival of Stories, and develops custom school partnerships to remove barriers to program participation and build classroom libraries.
Notable achievements
2024 program impact
In 2024 Books to Kids reported distributing 1,017 books and serving approximately 1,335 students while partnering with 13 authors/illustrators.
Children's Festival of Stories success
Since 2018 the festival has brought national, regional and local creators together; the 2023 festival provided every attending child with a free book.
Custom school initiative (Lumberg)
In summer 2024 Books to Kids launched a targeted campaign for Lumberg Elementary to fund and supply the titles students needed to participate in district literacy programming and hosted an Art & Literacy Night.
