UNITARY FUND (Unitary Foundation)

Unitary Fund (also operating as Unitary Foundation) is a San Francisco–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports open-source quantum software, tooling, education, and community-building. It runs a microgrant program, conducts research and software development (notably Mitiq and Metriq), and organizes community events including global hackathons and workshops.

In the last 2–3 years the organization has scaled its microgrant program (surpassing 100 grants awarded across 25+ countries), advanced core open-source projects and releases, and hosted large virtual and in-person community events that connect contributors, maintainers, and industry members. Unitary Fund also operates an EU subsidiary (Unitary Fund France) to participate in European research consortia.

The organization maintains an active public web presence, annual reports, and regular program updates; it lists major corporate and community members as supporters and partners and continues to fund and shepherd applied open-source work for quantum computing research and education.
