About Lift Up the Vulnerable, Inc.
Lift Up the Vulnerable (LUV) is a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 83-1980124) that partners with indigenously led networks in Sudan and South Sudan to prevent human trafficking and provide holistic care for children and women in war-affected areas.
LUV operates a holistic model of protection, education, and economic development led by local partners; in the past 2–3 years the organization has expanded program coordination in East Africa, scaled nutrition-smart agriculture on partner campuses, and deepened partnerships to increase food security and local economic opportunities for the communities it serves.
Notable achievements
Nutrition-smart agriculture outcomes
Agriculture projects at partner sites greatly increased on-campus food production: by 2023–2024 partner farms were supplying the majority of school meals (reported at roughly 75% in 2023 and higher in 2024), dramatically reducing malnutrition cases and improving student health and academic performance.
Scale of education & protection services
LUV’s school and protection network serves well over a thousand students across its sites (the organization reports enrollment figures in the low thousands), combining schooling, daily meals, medical care and mentorship to reduce exploitation risk.
Strengthened local leadership & program expansion
Since 2022 LUV has invested in regional program coordinators and local partners to improve monitoring, expand trauma-informed care, girls’ empowerment programming, and new income-generation initiatives, increasing program resilience during crises.
