About AKAHIAO NATURE INSTITUTE
Akahiao Nature Institute is a place-based learning center that runs youth programs, a nature-focused daycare, camps, and curriculum partnerships rooted in Hawaiian place-conscious education. The organization emphasizes hands-on environmental education, indigenous knowledge, social-emotional learning, and regenerative practices to cultivate ecological leadership in children and young people. Since obtaining tax-exempt recognition, Akahiao has expanded program delivery across the early‑childhood and K–12 spectrum and has established college and school partnerships to develop place-based social-emotional learning curricula.
