About Children's Hospital Colorado

Children's Hospital Colorado is a private, nonprofit pediatric healthcare system based on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus that provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care, specialty services and trauma care for infants, children, adolescents and young adults across Colorado and the surrounding region.

The organization is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 84-0166760) that combines clinical care with research and community programs: in recent years it launched the Colorado Child Health Research Institute (June 17, 2024) and has expanded statewide youth mental health initiatives, including a major mental-health-focused philanthropic challenge announced September 23, 2025.

Children’s Colorado operates a large clinical network (multiple campuses and outreach clinics), runs hundreds of active clinical research studies, and delivers community-facing programs such as school and primary-care partnerships, injury prevention and seasonal vaccination/health clinics.

Notable achievements

Colorado Child Health Research Institute launch

On June 17, 2024, Children’s Colorado and CU Anschutz launched the Colorado Child Health Research Institute to formalize campus-wide child health research collaboration, supporting hundreds of investigators and accelerating translation of discoveries into patient care.

Advances in brain tumor & cystic fibrosis research

Has led or participated in high-impact pediatric research—creating international brain tumor registries and conducting clinical trials that contributed to new cystic fibrosis therapies—helping transform outcomes for those conditions.

Expanded youth mental-health response & major gift

After declaring a youth mental-health emergency in 2021, the hospital expanded crisis and integrated behavioral-health services and in September 2025 received a transformational philanthropic challenge gift to scale mental-health programs and campus collaborations.
