About Mariposa Center for Safety

Mariposa Center for Safety is a Pueblo, Colorado–based nonprofit that operates the city’s only confidential domestic violence shelter and provides crisis intervention, case management, prevention education, and supervised visitation services.

The organization traces its roots to the YWCA of Pueblo and formally changed its name to Mariposa Center for Safety in 2023 to focus on a locally driven domestic violence and survivor-support mission.

In the last 2–3 years Mariposa has continued to operate a 24-bed shelter, reported substantial 2024 service volumes (shelter nights, meals, hotline responses, and supervised visits), navigated municipal funding reductions, and secured grant funding to strengthen its 24/7 crisis hotline.
