About Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region
Founded in 1949, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) is an independent 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization serving Southern Colorado with primary campuses in Colorado Springs and Pueblo.
HSPPR operates open-admission shelters, provides adoption and foster services, offers veterinary and low-cost wellness clinics, and enforces animal law and cruelty investigations across multiple counties.
The organization has grown into a large regional provider of sheltering, medical rehabilitation, spay/neuter services, and community outreach while pursuing capital and programmatic fundraising to expand veterinary capacity and access to care.
Notable achievements
Completed $7M veterinary clinic capital campaign
Raised and secured $7 million to renovate and expand the on-site veterinary clinic to increase capacity for medical care and surgeries.
Major community and grant investments
Received multi-year investments and grants (including a significant Petco Love investment) to support veterinary and lifesaving programs and a Pueblo wellness clinic.
Record fundraising at signature gala
Host of a highly successful annual Fur Ball gala that raised substantial funds (hundreds of thousands) to support shelter operations and community services.
