About Gunnison County Pioneer & Historical Society
The Gunnison County Pioneer & Historical Society operates the Gunnison Pioneer Museum, a volunteer-run open-air museum and campus that preserves historic buildings, extensive artifact collections, and regional stories of settlement and daily life in the Gunnison Country.
Founded as an organization in the early 20th century and operating the museum campus since the 1960s, the Society is sustained largely by donations, membership dues, grants, and volunteer labor and typically opens to the public each year from mid-May through late September.
