About Longmont Emergency Unit, Inc.
Longmont Emergency Unit (LEU) is an all-volunteer, IRS 501(c)(3) technical search-and-rescue and emergency support organization serving Longmont, Boulder County and surrounding communities. The unit operates 24/7 and provides no-charge emergency incident response, traffic and crowd control, evidence and missing-person searches, dive/retrieval operations, medical standby for events, and fire support services.
LEU was founded in 1957 and maintains ongoing volunteer recruitment, regular training, and community event support. In recent years (fiscal 2022–2024) the organization has continued active operations and filed annual Form 990 returns showing year-to-year program activity and financials consistent with an active volunteer emergency services organization.
