About COMPASS...FOR LIFELONG DISCOVERY
COMPASS...for Lifelong Discovery is a Colorado-based educational 501(c)(3) nonprofit (tax-exempt since 1971) that operates and supports community-based, progressive K–8 public charter schools in the Roaring Fork Valley.
Compass is the umbrella organization for two award-winning community schools—Aspen Community School and Carbondale Community School—and focuses on small class sizes, experiential/outdoor learning, arts, and sustained community partnerships. In its most recent fiscal year, Compass reported multi‑million dollar program revenues and continues to invest primarily in direct school programs and staff.

Founded in the early 1970s, Compass has sustained five decades of community-based educational programming and evolved to lead public charter schools that remain central to local education in the Roaring Fork Valley.
