About Mile High Early Learning (formerly Mile High Montessori Early Learning Centers)
Mile High Early Learning (EIN 84-0617972) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and Denver’s oldest and largest provider of subsidized, high-quality early childhood education. The organization operates seven Montessori‑inspired early learning centers serving children ages 6 weeks to 5 years and focuses on equity, family supports, and workforce development.
In recent years MHEL has expanded capacity and services (notably opening The Rose on Colfax on January 24, 2024, and the Tamara M. Sparks Early Learning Center on May 18, 2024), grown its workforce training programs, and maintained high program quality across centers. Opened The Rose on Colfax Early Learning Center (January 24, 2024) and the Tamara M. Sparks Early Learning Center at Mile High United Way (May 18, 2024), increasing high‑quality child care slots in underserved neighborhoods.
Workforce scaling grant & training impact
Selected as a Phase 2 grant recipient to scale evidence‑based workforce initiatives (including the CDA training program), enabling paid internships, expanded teacher recruitment, and placement of credentialed educators into classrooms.
