Denver Indian Health and Family Services (DIHFS) is Denver’s Urban Indian Health Program, operating since 1978 to deliver culturally grounded primary care, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and wellness services for American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) adults, children, and families in the Denver metropolitan area. In recent years DIHFS has strengthened clinical quality and access—earning national ambulatory accreditation and Patient-Centered Medical Home recognition in 2024—while expanding federally funded programs (including healthy aging/dementia care), mobile health services, and harm-reduction efforts such as naloxone distribution. As a 501(c)(3) community health organization, DIHFS works with Indian Health Service programs, state and local funders, and philanthropic partners to coordinate culturally competent care, insurance enrollment assistance, and community-based prevention and chronic disease management across multiple Denver-area counties.
