About DEL NORTE NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

Del Norte Neighborhood Development Corporation (Del Norte NDC) is a Denver-based nonprofit community development corporation founded in 1978 to address housing needs and economic opportunity in north Denver neighborhoods. The organization focuses on creating and preserving affordable multifamily housing, preserving historic structures, and delivering housing-related services to underserved residents. Del Norte operates a bilingual housing counseling program and provides development, asset management, and community engagement capacity. In recent years Del Norte has played an active role in community-led land stewardship and community land trust efforts in north Denver while continuing direct housing development and resident services.

Notable achievements

Incubated Tierra Colectiva Community Land Trust

Del Norte incubated and supported the neighborhood-led Tierra Colectiva Community Land Trust (TCCLT), helping advance land acquisition and community-led planning in Globeville/Elyria-Swansea. TCCLT projects supported through this work include the purchase of community green space (food-forest parcel acquired in 2024) and a development pipeline that includes for-sale homes and a planned affordable rental project.

Longstanding affordable housing development

Since its founding in 1978 Del Norte has developed and preserved multiple multifamily affordable housing projects in North Denver, stewarding redevelopment that emphasizes historic preservation and long-term affordability while managing development, property and asset responsibilities.

Sustained HUD-approved housing counseling program

Del Norte operates a HUD-participating, bilingual housing counseling program offering pre-purchase education, foreclosure prevention, rental counseling, financial management and predatory-lending education workshops for Denver residents.
