About SAMARITAN COUNSELING CENTER (doing business as CENTUS Counseling, Consulting & Education)

Samaritan Counseling Center (doing business as CENTUS Counseling, Consulting & Education) is a Denver-area nonprofit that delivers outpatient counseling, school-based mental health, community education, and training programs with a mind-body-spirit, culturally responsive approach. The organization operates office-based, community, and tele-behavioral services and provides sliding-scale financial assistance so counseling is available regardless of ability to pay.

In recent years Centus expanded its school counseling program and launched a post-graduate residency program to grow a more diverse behavioral-health workforce. In fiscal 2023–24 the organization reported delivering tens of thousands of direct counseling service hours and serving several thousand clients across outpatient and school programs.

Notable achievements

High-volume clinical impact (2023–24)

Delivered approximately 23,520 direct counseling service hours in 2023–24 and served roughly 3,500 individual clients across outpatient and community programs.

School counseling expansion

Expanded school-based services to nine Denver-area schools serving a combined student population of about 2,500, representing a ~20% increase in school services year-over-year and documented measurable clinical improvements for many students served.

Post-graduate Residency Program launched/expanded

Established and grew a post-graduate residency program focused on training clinicians from diverse backgrounds (8–10 residents annually) to serve under-resourced communities; the program received targeted grant support to scale clinical training and hiring.
