About Parker Area Historical Society Inc.
The Parker Area Historical Society (PAHS) is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) historical society based in Parker, Colorado that maintains a small museum (the Parker Heritage Center), stewards historic sites, and delivers public programming to preserve and share local history.
PAHS operates and cares for historic assets including the Tallman/Newlin log cabin and participates in preservation of landmark sites such as the 20 Mile House; it also produces family-oriented events, lectures, walking/driving tours and educational initiatives for residents, students and visitors.
Notable achievements
Tallman/Newlin Cabin rescue & restoration
Led the 1996–1997 move and restoration of the 1860s Tallman/Newlin log cabin to protect Parker's only remaining log structure and completed significant restoration work (including a 2013 grant-supported rehabilitation).
Local landmark stewardship
Instrumental in preserving and interpreting Parker landmarks (Tallman/Newlin Cabin and the 20 Mile House are recognized locally and on historic registers) and in raising community awareness of Parker's built heritage.
Sustained community programming
Established recurring public programs and events—walking/driving audio tours, Parker Quest scavenger hunts, living-history presentations and seasonal fairs—that have engaged residents and visitors in recent years.
