About Colorado Watercolor Society
Founded in 1954 and based in the Denver area, the Colorado Watercolor Society (CWS) is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit fine arts organization with a membership of roughly three hundred painters ranging from beginners to nationally and internationally recognized professionals.
CWS advances watercolor and related watermedia through juried exhibitions, workshops with nationally known artists, monthly meetings and demonstrations, a quarterly newsletter, and partnerships with regional arts organizations.
In the last 2–3 years CWS has presented its annual State Watercolor Exhibition (June–July 2025), delivered a robust calendar of workshops and monthly demos throughout 2023–2025, and prepared to host the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies (WFWS) rotating exhibition as its regional delegate.

Serves as a member society and delegate in the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies; scheduled to host the regional WFWS exhibition cycle and associated events as part of the federation rotation.
34th Annual State Exhibition (2025)
Presented the 34th Annual CWS State Watercolor Exhibition in June–July 2025, a major juried statewide showcase for watermedia artists.
Longstanding Statewide Presence
Established in 1954, CWS has sustained multi-decade programming, consistent membership growth, and ongoing collaborations with regional arts institutions.
