About Aurora Museum Foundation
The Aurora Museum Foundation is a volunteer-led nonprofit partner to the City of Aurora that raises funds, advocates, and organizes volunteers to support the Aurora History Museum and historic sites (including DeLaney Farm, Gully Homestead, Coal Creek Schoolhouse and Centennial House).
The Foundation operates membership and donor programs, runs the museum store to generate revenue, and sponsors exhibitions, conservation projects, educational programming, and community-facing events to keep Aurora’s local history accessible and preserved.
Notable achievements
Longstanding Festival Fundraiser
Sustained the Festival of Wreaths fundraising program for multiple decades, which serves as a primary annual fundraiser supporting museum programs and operations.
Historic Preservation Support
Provided donor support for community preservation projects, including contributions to high-profile restorations and conservation efforts that benefited Aurora historic landmarks in 2023–2024.
Museum Store & Revenue Generation
Established and operates the Sanders Museum Store (located in the museum lobby) as an ongoing revenue source to help underwrite museum activities.
