About FRIENDS OF DINOSAUR RIDGE
Friends of Dinosaur Ridge is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit that operates Dinosaur Ridge, an outdoor museum and National Natural Landmark near Morrison, Colorado. The organization runs guided bus and walking tours, school programs, summer camps, virtual learning resources, and stewardship projects to preserve in-situ fossil tracks and bones for research and public education. Founded in 1989, Friends of Dinosaur Ridge partners with Jefferson County Open Space and other local institutions to deliver place-based STEM education and public programs that reach school groups, families, and general visitors. In recent years the organization expanded digital resources (virtual tours and audio guides), continued robust school programming, and played a lead role in the creation of a state Stegosaurus specialty license plate to support education and preservation.

Since 1989 the organization has operated and stewarded Dinosaur Ridge and Triceratops Trail in partnership with Jefferson County Open Space, maintaining one of the nation’s most important in‑place dinosaur tracksites and an active public education program.
Statewide fundraising and visibility via Stegosaurus license plate
Friends of Dinosaur Ridge was designated as an educational and stewardship partner for Colorado’s Stegosaurus specialty license plate (legislation enacted 2023), creating a new ongoing fundraising and awareness channel to support preservation and educational programs.
Expanded education and visitor access
In the last 2–3 years the organization expanded virtual learning (360° tours, audio tours, short educational videos), sustained school tours and licensed summer camps aligned with Colorado science standards, and continued small-group expert-led public tours that serve tens of thousands of visitors annually.
